A biting comedy, Cult of Love is Headland’s final work in a series called “Seven Deadly Plays,” inspired by the seven deadly sins. This one tackles pride.
In Headland’s new play, four adult children return to their childhood home, bringing all their partners along. Family traditions (including singing carols in harmony at the drop of a hat) resurface, as do old conflicts. Wars are staged around the dinner table, and the meal is taking forever to be served. The siblings’ love for each other might not be enough to get them through the meal and holiday. Will they reconcile, or will this be their final Christmas altogether?
